The itinerary

1. Day 1 · Cairo

   Arrival in Cairo

   Welcome to Cairo. You are met by our local representative and transferred by private air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel for check-in. Details of your sightseeing will be provided. The rest of the day is at leisure.

2. Day 2 · Cairo

   Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & Grand Egyptian Museum

   Breakfast at the hotel, then travel by air-conditioned vehicle with your English-speaking Egyptologist to the Giza Necropolis. The Giza Pyramid Complex includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and the Great Sphinx, all built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, along with cemeteries and the remains of a workers' village.

   After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near the pyramids, the largest archaeological museum in the world and home to the complete Tutankhamun collection, with many pieces on display for the first time.

   Later, return to your hotel for an evening at leisure.

3. Day 3 · Cairo

   Civilization Museum, Old Cairo & Khan El-Khalili

   After breakfast, visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the first museum in the Arab world dedicated to the ancient Egyptian civilization.

   Continue to Old Cairo's churches, including St George Church (7th–8th century), the only round church in Egypt, built on the foundations of a Roman tower. Then explore Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, founded in the 14th century and today the largest bazaar in the Middle East, with workshops and stalls selling woodwork, glassware, leather, perfumes, fabrics and Pharaonic curiosities.

   Lunch at a local restaurant, then return to your hotel for an evening at leisure.

4. Day 4 · Aswan

   Egyptian Museum & Fly to Aswan

   After breakfast, check out and visit the original Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to learn about the young king Tutankhamun. After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan, where you are met and taken to your hotel.

5. Day 5 · Aswan

   Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple & Embarkation

   After breakfast, visit the Aswan High Dam, built in the 1960s to bring electricity and irrigation to Egypt; the flooding of Nubia led to the largest archaeological rescue Egypt has ever known.

   Then take a boat to Agilkia Island and the Temple of Isis at Philae, one of the Nubian temples rescued before the dam was built, with long colonnades, towers and reliefs that include the last surviving hieroglyphic inscriptions in Egypt.

   Transfer to the MS Hamees for lunch and check-in. Relax by the pool or on the sun deck as you sail the Nile. Dinner on board.

6. Day 6 · Kom Ombo

   Sail to Kom Ombo & Edfu

   Today you sail to Kom Ombo, a Ptolemaic temple (180–47 BC) shared by the gods Sobek and Horus. Return to the ship and continue sailing towards Edfu, enjoying the Nile scenery.

7. Day 7 · Edfu

   Temple of Horus at Edfu & Sail to Luxor

   After breakfast on board, explore the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, the most complete and best-preserved temple in Egypt, with its columns, halls, chambers and chapels. The cruise continues through the Esna Lock and on to Luxor.

8. Day 8 · Luxor

   Luxor West Bank, Luxor Temple & Fly to Cairo

   After breakfast, cross to Luxor's West Bank to explore the Valley of the Kings, original resting place of Tutankhamun, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the towering Colossi of Memnon. Entry to the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramses VI is not included.

   Then visit majestic Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II and dedicated to the god Amun. After lunch in Luxor, fly back to Cairo and transfer to your hotel for an evening at leisure.

9. Day 9 · Cairo

   Departure from Cairo

   Breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
