Overview

Forty-five minutes from Cusco, Lake Piuray lies still and clear beneath the Andes. The family starts on the water in kayaks or on stand-up paddleboards, with guides adapting the session for every age.

Back on shore, a neighbouring community welcomes you into the fields to try ancestral farming techniques and watch local weavers at work. Lunch is a pachamanca, meats and Andean potatoes slow-cooked beneath the earth on hot stones, unearthed with some ceremony and shared by the lake.
